We’re looking for a Procurement Specialist to drive efficiencies in existing support processes and manage categories in our Vancouver, WA Headquarters!

If you enjoy a fast-paced, high energy and seasonal manufacturing environment then you will fit in well as a Procurement Specialist for Hawthorne Gardening.  On a day-to-day basis you will have responsibility for some Procurement support activities and also category and supplier management to drive savings and change in our business.

What you'll do in this role:

  • Fully own and manage raw material/finished goods categories of approx. $5-10M

  • Conduct supplier negotiations, bids, renewals to deliver annual awards

  • Demonstrate deep market understanding for owned categories

  • Deliver annual savings, efficiency, and cash targets to improve business position

  • Lead suppliers, with legal support, through Hawthorne Gardening contracting process to ensure that all partners have signed NDA, MSA, and SLEA in place

  • Manage supply partners through the Supplier Relationship Management process

  • Develop sourcing strategies for owned categories

  • Complete the contract management process for Hawthorne Gardening Procurement team, finding efficiencies to streamline and automate: Create SAP contracts, complete quarterly contract pricing updates, contract quantity true-ups.

  • Support the Procurement team in Ariba events

  • Act as a participant on cross functional project teams

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders: Quality, Planning, R&D, Brand to drive innovation and savings projects

  • Complete detailed category spend analysis projects

  • Complete analysis and report out on MPV analysis

  • Act at project management lead on inventory reduction, savings & productivity, DPO, and others to be assigned

  • Provide sourcing and sampling support for new materials

  • Coordinate the sample management program for new materials

  • Support in strategy development work in the Raw Materials/finished goods areas

  • Develop new procurement reports as necessary

  • Ensure on-time payments to suppliers by working with A/P to resolve invoice and PO issues

What you'll need to be successful:

  • 1-5 years of experience in Procurement, Supply Chain or business analytics

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • Attention to detail

  • A passion for problem solving

  • A proven history of delivering results

  • Experience in SAP and Ariba

  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills

  • The ability to work with a wide range of internal stakeholders at all levels of the Scotts Miracle-Gro organization

  • Undergraduate degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related area of study.
