  • Plan and schedule maintenance work on daily, weekly, and shutdown basis, as well as track performance and maintain accurate records.
  • The Maintenance Planner is charged with supporting the execution of maintenance work by receiving, planning, estimating, scheduling and coordinating maintenance work orders.  Ensures the timely and coordinated availability of facilities and equipment to be worked on, parts, materials, special tools, and equipment, personnel and skills for orderly and efficient work execution.  Ensures that proper documentation of work performed is provided in accord with standard practice for use in the evaluation and control of the maintenance function.
  • The planner receives all daily work orders from the requestor departments.
  • Screens each work order to see that it has been properly filled out, discusses the details with the originating department, ensures that the work scope is clearly described, that it is properly authorized, and the priority or completion data realistically provides the maximum practical lead time.
  • Plans all maintenance work orders received by analyzing them into basic job steps, determines the sequence relative to each job step, and what parts, materials, special tools, skills, and personnel are required for each step.  Obtains drawings and sketches as needed.
  • Once a job is planned, and prior to scheduling, the planner verifies the availability of parts, materials, and special tools required for its execution.  When parts and materials are not available, arranges for their procurement.
  • Prepares copies of work orders for jobs that are parts of the preventative maintenance program and standing work orders for selected repetitive jobs not included in such programs.  Issues them for execution in accordance with their established frequency from a master schedule.  Initiates work orders for repairs discovered on PM inspections and obtains necessary approvals.
  • Maintains backlog file of work orders waiting scheduling in accordance with their priority limits.  Prepares backlog reports for this area of responsibility.
  • Develops each day a maintenance work schedule for the following days for the Maintenance Supervisor.  Selects from the backlog file for each crew a group of work orders that can be scheduled and which will match the personnel capability of the assigned work forces, taking into account any carry-over jobs from the previous schedule.  When the assigned work forces require adjustment, or when assignments of specific personnel are required, makes such arrangements with the Supervisor.
  • Chairs the weekly scheduling meetings with Production supervision and schedules the work.  Finalizes schedules for which he is responsible ensuring that the work is provided for each person.
  • On the basis of firm work schedules, requisitions all predetermined parts, materials, special tools and equipment and arranges for their timely delivery to the job sites or drop points.  Ensures that equipment to be worked on will be available and ready. Coordinates activities necessary for the orderly and efficient execution of the scheduled jobs by the Maintenance Supervisor and his crew.
  • Interfaces with outside contractors and vendors to verify completeness and quality of work.
  • Complies with all safety and housekeeping rules.


  • Knowledge and familiarity of Marysville Chemical Plant processes and equipment.
  • Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Software preferably SAP.
  • Familiarity with Maintenance planning and scheduling concepts.
  • Understanding of Mechanical and Electrical work processes and procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with hourly and salary associates
