We are looking for a Logistics Manager to join our Hawthorne Supply Chain team in Vancouver, Washington!

Our Supply Chain Team is the engine that delivers the most innovative hydroponic products and systems to our customers through our advanced global distribution network.

We are looking for a Logistics Manager who will thrive at our Vancouver, WA location.  This role will focus on driving improved service and value through key partnerships.  The candidate will work closely with Operations, Compliance, Category, Demand Planning, Finance and Procurement teams to deliver best in class results.  The Logistics Manager will be responsible for identifying supply chain opportunities, leading RFP negotiations, and contracting with transportation providers for domestic and international transportation.

This role will has high growth potential into a senior leadership role within our supply chain group!

What you'll do in this role:

  • Adapt transportation strategies around operational needs and industry trends

  • Develop transportation provider strategy to select and maintain suppliers that provide maximum value to the organization at the right cost and that support budgetary goals

  • Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for freight sourcing and supplier capabilities

  • Provide recommendations for adoption of best practices and process improvements that will enhance team performance and contribute to team goals and objectives

  • Influence through industry knowledge, expertise, and current market updates

  • Collaborate with Finance to develop savings calculations and validation methodologies for freight vendor sourcing events

  • Negotiate transportation service agreements and pricing

  • Manage transportation service providers to key performance metrics

  • Lead RFP process with ocean freight, truckload, less than truckload, and parcel carriers

  • Drive private fleet optimization and performance improvement

  • Support enterprise projects forging relationships across organization

  • Innovate and implement new programs driving service and cost benefits

  • Partner with Finance to report on savings/cost avoidance

  • Review and recommend changes to contracts, terms and conditions, and pricing to best fit sourcing strategies and alignment to business needs

  • Serve as the key point of contact for transportation activities and provide full insight into strategy, policies, processes, and procedures

  • Effectively communicate the impact of decisions to team and leadership as appropriate

  • Actively seek support from direct and cross-functional teams and leadership

  • Communicate freight vendor selection decisions to respective teams, impacted employees, leadership, and suppliers, as appropriate

  • Answer complex questions related to contracts, policies, terms and conditions, and pricing

What you'll need to be successful:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 7+ years of experience in transportation management in a leadership role

  • Direct experience managing a portfolio of carriers including private fleet operations

  • ERP and transportation management system experience

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Ability to travel as needed
