We are looking for a Landscaping Maintenance Technician who will join our Scotts Miracle-Gro team in Temecula, California.

What you’ll do in this role:

  • Perform general clean-up of all outdoor areas of the facility and building perimeter as directed.
  • Cut turf using various sized power mowers, trimming and edging using a gas powered edger/trimmer, and operating a gas powered blower.
  • Properly and safely prune shrubs and low trees as needed to improve the shape or growth habitat or to remove damaged branches.
  • Using hand and/or power tools or equipment to perform a wide range of landscape and irrigation duties.
  • Performs grounds keeping and building maintenance duties. Provides proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, planters, and other grounds features.
  • Utilizes tools and equipment for pruning, mowing grass, edging, trimming, fertilizing and watering.
  • Pick up trash and blow leaves and other organic debris on to the turf before mowing.
  • Laying sod, planting, trimming, watering, cutting, fertilizing, digging, and raking.
  • Installing, repairing and replacing sprinklers and sprinklers pipes as required.
  • Performs and troubleshoots maintenance to sprinkler and valves system.
  • Spray plants, trees and grass with pesticides to control destructive insects and diseases.
  • Dig holes in ground, rake soil, install plant materials, mow/edge lawns, and trim plant materials and trees.
  • Places Safety first.
  • Supports the Maintenance department as needed.
  • Landscape by planting flowers, grass, shrubs, and bushes.
  • Manage routine upkeep of exterior areas, green space and parking lot.
  • Complete non-routine cleaning according to specified job orders.
  • Handle emergency cleaning and upkeep requests.
  • Reports immediately any concerns.
  • Works with Sr. Lead to coordinate outside services as required.
  • Ensure outdoors of the facility are maintained and fully equipped.
  • Adheres and complies with the cleaning schedule.
  • Adheres to safety rules and ergonomic practices.
  • Responsible for keeping and maintaining tools and equipment provided.
  • Performs other duties as necessary.  

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
  • 6 months commercial landscape experience preferred.
  • Work in/or about situations near direct automotive traffic.
  • Work from elevated heights such as an 8' A-frame ladder.
  • Work 8+ hours per day with applicable breaks x 5 days/week (some overtime/weekend work required).
  • The team member is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts.
  • Ability to work in extreme conditions - temperatures may exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit outdoors during summer.
  • Ability to work in direct sunlight for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. (mulch, fertilizer, etc.).
  • Ability to load/unload up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to bend, stoop and twist continuously throughout the shift.
