We are looking for an International Sales Manager who will grow at our Vancouver, WA offices.

This person is responsible for developing international sales worldwide, outside of North America. This includes, but is not limited to determining the requirements the Company will need to conduct business effectively overseas; global customer/distributor selection; pricing strategy; providing the best logistical options to satisfy customer demand; and implementing loyalty, growth, pricing and other incentives with them.

In this role you will:

  • Increase top line sales through strategic selling across all Hawthorne brands.
  • Identify and establish international account sales relationships with large hydroponic operators.
  • Be the main point of contact for Hawthorne international sales team.
  • Target, acquire and drive revenue with top LP commercial hydroponic grower relationships based on opportunities and regulations by country.
  • Work with all cross-functional teams to effectively manage technical service requirements of customers and growers, order replenishment and recommendations.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with Brand Marketing, Customer Service, Operations and R&D to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Responsible for providing product training to and managing the day-to-day sales & marketing efforts of the Company's global customers.
  • Coordinate reasonable, pre-approved customer support events (e.g., trade shows, customer appreciation events, etc.).
  • Help facilitate and oversee the process by which the Company is able to distribute products globally. This would include, among other things, involvement with suppliers, logistics partners, finance/accounting and understanding of local issues.
  • Work with the Sales Team, Product Managers, Vendors/Suppliers and other Company team members to obtain product education prior to promotional/sales efforts.
  • Develop appropriate sales techniques to promote products to customers, including demonstrating the benefits of the Company's products versus the competition.
  • Provide timely and accurate product and market information to appropriate Company Staff and providing overall excellent service and support.
  • Acquire, maintain and update customer lists and pertinent customer information on a regular and ongoing basis.
  • Demonstrate regular sales increases in your international territory and meet or exceed provided sales targets.

The perfect person will have:

  • Bachelor degree in business related field – preferable.
  • Minimum 5 years of hydroponics/industry related experience preferable. Experience, preferably within a large hydroponic commercial and/or retail enterprise.
  • Expert level understanding of all inputs involved in commercial hydroponics including nutrients, grow media, lighting, environment, water, pesticides, etc.
  • High product knowledge (both application and features and benefits) and understanding of commercial grower needs.
  • Must be aggressive and have the ability to think strategically, communicate flawlessly, collaborate consistently, listen actively, give clear, consistent direction, work efficiently and foster teamwork.
  • Ability to interpret information and translate into actionable recommendations is a must.
