We are looking for a Director, Sales Planning & Communication.  This role covers market analysis, sales planning, communication, and business operational support for Retail and Commercial Field Sales Teams (FST).  Success in this role means assisting the appropriate sales, marketing and support groups to drive our sales growth strategy. This role will report directly to the Vice President, Sales Planning & Communication.

In this role you will:

  • Support the development of category and account growth opportunities and the long term sales strategy of the Hawthorne sales organization

  • Provide execution and communication support of Hawthorne’s annual sales priorities

  • Partner with category leads to identify forward looking sales opportunities

  • Lead ongoing analysis of business performance to support daily operations

  • Review and identify segment and category account growth opportunities

  • Make commercial recommendations to improve customer margins

  • Review customer sales performance, profitability and plans

  • Track forecast accuracy, and refine inputs on a monthly and quarterly basis

  • Design and interpret key performance metrics related to sales priority initiatives

  • Attend S&OP and identify potential service issues and communicate corrective action to the sales organization

  • Develop, communicate and execute promotional activities that support sales goals

  • Proactively support the refresh review of ongoing sales coverage requirements for North America

  • Direct and oversee usage of team systems (e.g., CRM), including Hubspot

  • Develop and direct CRM processes and corresponding execution

  • Assist in developing and delivering presentations for senior executives

A qualified person will have:

  • 7-10 years of experience focused on quantitative analysis, Excel, and logical reasoning

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university; MBA is preferred

  • Self-starter and high degree of motivation to go above and beyond the task at hand

  • Exceptional problem solving skills: demonstrated ability to structure complex problems, develop solutions

  • Strong analytical skills.  Ability to research and collect data and interpret it into actionable plans

  • Strong MS Excel skill set to collect data, create graphs and charts for presentation purposes

  • Strong presentation skills, especially related to building compelling PowerPoint presentations
