We’re looking for Transportation Optimization Manager to join our team in Marysville, OH! The ideal candidate will be close to our World Headquarters but we may also consider remote candidates with the ability to be in the office when needed.

The Transportation Optimization Manager will provide leadership in the development, planning and execution of transportation initiatives across Scott-Miracle Gro.  The position is responsible for developing strategies to collaborate with both internal and external partners to drive down transportation costs while maintaining best in class service. The position will be responsible for the identification, analysis and implementation of companywide transportation initiatives. In addition, the position will be responsible for identifying and implementing new transportation technology to drive game changing results for the company.

What you'll do in this role:

  • Establish and build relationships with internal and external partners to drive game changing cost savings results

  • Lead cross functional transportation projects that deliver benefits to the organization and develop new capabilities for the organization

  • Lead the development of comprehensive reporting to validate cost savings and drive performance for Transportation

  • Partner with Vertical Transportation Team (VTI)  team to identify backhauls and external freight in order to optimize private fleet efficiency

  • Partner with Procurement and Operations team to identify opportunities to lower transportation cost while maintaining service levels

What you'll need to be successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management or a related field

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in transportation, supply chain management or procurement, preferably within a consumer products or retail company. Experience working with a Private Transportation fleet or for a Transportation provider is a plus.

  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of end to end Supply Chain including transportation, distribution and inventory management.

  • Excellent communication skills that demonstrate the ability to convey complex information to a variety of audiences, including senior leaders and business partners

  • Ability to work at multiple levels; from strategic planning to “ rolling up your sleeves” to get project plans in place

  • Proven project management, problem solving, and organizational skills

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to build relationships internally & externally.

  • Ability to travel as needed, less than 10%.
