Hawthorne Gardening Company, a Vancouver, WA based subsidiary of Scotts Miracle Gro, is seeking a full-time Full Stack Web Developer to join our team. We are a group of hardworking developers that are passionate about producing top tier work while maintaining a fun and enjoyable work environment. Qualified candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced collaborative environment, producing high caliber work, and supporting the code you write. This position would be on a small team, taking direction from the team lead while being responsible for projects directly relevant to company success.

What you’ll do in this role:

  • Planning, Designing, and Developing new critical features for existing projects 

  • Planning, Designing, and Developing high visibility projects to solve business problems 

  • Writing clean & maintainable code

  • Including test writing in projects

  • Troubleshoot and fix bugs

  • Customer support

  • Create great documentation

  • Testing of existing and new projects

  • Clear communication with team and business stakeholders where necessary


What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • 2-4 Years of experience in a development role

  • Strong programming skills in C# or similar object-oriented languages

  • Experience with one or more Relational Database Management Systems (AWS’s RDS, MSSQL, MySQL, SQLite  etc.)

  • Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks

  • Create, update and maintain Automated Test Coverage (Unit, Integration, and Front End. Selenium Tests) and verify expected results as desired.

  • Working knowledge or experience with CICD Tools (TeamCity, Octopus, Jenkins).

  • Strong verbal communication skills with an ability to deal with technical and business staff are required.

  • Self-driven with motivation to review and improve code

  • Willingness and ability to work in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle.

  • Ability to accurately estimate and meet deadlines in a fast-paced team environment

Preferred Experience

  • .NET MVC, .NET Core, and Vue.js experience

  • Experience developing and utilizing RESTful APIs

  • Strong familiarity with Git

  • Experience managing tasks with Jira or other project tracking software
