We are looking for a Human Resources Manager who will grow at our Vancouver, Washington Hawthorne Gardening Co. headquarters. 

This role will focus on business partnership with HGC’s supply chain organization, including manufacturing and our national distribution network.

In this role you will:

  • Be a strategic and tactical contributor by delivering comprehensive, practical human resource solutions to the managers and associates in the Hawthorne Gardening Co. (HGC) business.

  • Work closely with the HR Director and corporate HR on the business’ needs and support them by driving the implementation of compensation programs, benefits, talent management/acquisition and other needed programs.

  • Learn the business’ priorities, strategy and challenges in service of the above goals. 

  • Provide talent related processes that build capability in our field leaders including recruiting, talent development, onboarding, performance management, culture, reward and recognition.

  • Work with the HR Director to deliver communications, training and change management activities to our internal business partners.

  • Manage day-to-day associate relations issues including investigations, conflict resolution and litigation/EEOC support. 

  • Offer advice and counsel to leaders on policies and performance management best practices.

  • In partnership with business leaders, develop onboarding and training materials to drive consistency and efficiency throughout the supply chain.

  • Drive a positive culture that creates an inspiring associate experience.

What you will need to be successful:

  • Bachelor Degree in Industrial Relations or Human Resources Management.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Human Resources Management.

  • Human Resources Generalist experience in a fast-paced environment preferably a supply chain/manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstrated strong judgment and proven ability to diagnose issues, drawing on both professional experience and strategic thinking skills to drive appropriate solutions with self-initiative.

  • Strong business acumen and ability to work well across different functions in order to develop and integrate HR and business strategies.

  • Intellectual curiosity with innate desire to learn how things work.

  • Energized by high change environments and is comfortable with ambiguity.

  • A high level of ownership, accountability, and sense of urgency.

  • Approachable demeanor, but willing to stand up for what he/she believes in

  • Proven, creative problem solver with both breadth and depth of experience across the HR function.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Organizational skills with ability to multitask.

  • Computer skills (Microsoft Office suite, Google, Workday, etc.)

  • Ability to travel as needed, which includes overnight travel, around 40% of the time.
