We’re looking for an Fleet Safety Manager for our Central Ohio Fleet with operations in Marysville, Ohio Distribution Centers!

 

The Fleet Safety Manager helps execute the Logistics, Environmental, Health, and Safety at multiple locations ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local regulations, standards, codes, and company policies.  This position is directly accountable for developing and executing training programs and standard operating procedures that meet federal, state, and local laws and safety regulations, comply with Company policies and programs, and support critical business strategies.  He/she will work with site and fleet leadership to ensure the facility DOT and EHS compliance is maintained and goals are met.  This position is primarily responsible for supporting the company in the management, collaboration, and execution of programs around driver and distribution safety, occupational health, and environmental at a market and territory level.  The position will report directly to the Manager, Global Distribution / Private Fleet. 

What you'll do in this role:

  • Monitor Driver Qualification files and Drug and Alcohol testing programs

  • Report on fleet DOT Basics/SMS safety score, ELD compliance, KPI’s, incidents and accidents; Assist sites with completion of corrective action plans

  • Manage driver accidents including record retention, accident register management, accident investigation, and development of an accident prevention plan. He/she will coordinate with all employees and departments that should be notified of a DOT Recordable accident as part of this process.

  • Design and development safety and operational training programs and standard operating procedures the private fleet using known industry and company best practices; Monitors completion of all required safety meetings and training

  • Perform facility and fleet safety audits to ensure compliance with Federal, State and company standards

  • Identify regulatory changes that could impact the compliance program, and implement or adjust processes to ensure DOT compliance is achieved and maintained.

  • Review all CSA data monthly and ensure all roadside inspections are obtained, defects are corrected when applicable, and respond to the involved agencies when required.

  • Be the company’s DOT regulatory subject matter expert and provide DOT guidance and support.

  • Make recommendations to Corporate and EHS leadership regarding safety program implementation and improvements

  • Performs other duties as required

  • Travel requirement: 25%+

What you'll need to be successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree desired

  • 3-5 years of experience managing EHS, DOT and Fleet Safety.  Experience with OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulatory requirements

  • Strong logistics safety background

  • A history of successful implementation of behavioral and proactive safety programs and processes

  • Experience managing and leading in a matrix reporting environment desired

  • Experience with continuous improvement; Six sigma desired

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely (verbal and written)

  • Strong analytical and presentation skills required
